PORT WING OVERNIGHT

This is our favorite local trip as it combines some great offshore sailing, secluded anchoring, great beaches and interesting exploring in the kayaks. It can be done in two or three days.

Port Wing is a quaint village located an easy 19 mile sail across the Lake from Knife River. With it's fabulous sugar sand beach, small stream and estuary to explore by kayak , village dock to tie up to and art galleries and parks to explore in the village, it makes for an excellent two day trip and introduction to cruising. Add another day and we can head up to Bark Bay to anchor at a remote and quiet anchorage with another beautiful beach and large estuary with lots of wildlife.
 
The itinerary for the two day trip will look like this:
Day One: Meet in Knife River at 9:00 am then sail to Port Wing (a four to five hour sail depending on conditions) and tie up at the village dock in Port Wing, WI. Take a walk into the village or head out in the kayaks to explore the explore the beach and estuary.
Day Two: Enjoy a leasurly morning on the beach or exploreing the estuary by dinghy and kayak and then sail back to Knife River in the afternoon arriving around 5:00 pm.
 
The total cost per couple is $550.00 for a private double berth, $475.00 per couple for a double berth with a privacy curtain which converts to a dining table during the day and $400.00 for a single berth.

The itinerary for the three day trip will look like this:
Day One: Meet in Knife River at 9:00 am then sail to Bark Bay (a six to eight hour sail depending on conditions) and anchor and explore the beach and estuary.
Day Two: Enjoy the beach, explore the estuary by dinghy and kayak and then sail to Port Wing in the afternoon - a 2-3 hour sail.
Day Three: Relax on the beach in the morning, explore the stream and estuary by kayak, then sail back to Knife River in the afternoon, arriving around 5:00 pm.
 
The total cost per couple is $650.00 for a private double berth, $575.00 per couple for a double berth with a privacy curtain which converts to a dining table during the day and $475.00 for a single berth. 

On board all of the trips will be myself as Captain, Katya as First Mate, our two daughters Cedar (9) and Lamar (6) and three to four guests.
